The Aliveness Machines are kinetic sculptures driven by data relating to bat activity and water tubidity (muddiness) within the North Devon Biosphere region. The pieces were developed in collaboration with Antony Lyons as part of an ecological art residency with iDAT (Plymouth University) and the Biosphere reserve team. This was part of the Confluence project. The film below gives an overall sense of this ‘slow’ art residency which led to the Aliveness Machines outcomes.
